About Hornpipe Magazine & Reader Comments

Irish Dancing, Music and Culture in North America.

Hornpipe was launched in late summer of 1999 in response to a decade-long ascendancy of Irish culture in the American consciousness.

From 1990, when the traditional musical group The Chieftains started appearing with American superstars and philharmonic orchestras to the national enchantment with "Riverdance-The Show" and "Lord of the Dance" in mid-decade and on to the soulful prose of Frank McCourt's "Angela's Ashes," Irish dance, music and arts have struck a renascent chord across the land.

While Hornpipe is focused on the abiding national interest in Irish dance, our nameplate speaks to our commitment to weave all facets of Irish culture into the fabric of American society.
