Biddy Early: The Wise Woman of Clare

Ennis, County Clare is one of those towns that visitors to Ireland pass by on the way to Shannon Airport. More often than not it is a rest stop after a long flight before going to more renowned tourist destinations. Each and every part of Ireland has a claim to fame and the same is true for Feakle, a village due east of Ennis. Nestled on the Clare gills between Feakle and Gort, overlooking Kilbarron Lake stands a two-roomed thatched cottage, once the home of Biddy Early, a woman of extraordinary power. "A gift" some say was handed down to her from her mother.
